A simple cure for jet lag – and it’s not from a chemist!

DID YOU KNOW you can eliminate the dreaded effects of jet lag with this one simple trick?

The answer is EARTHING YOURSELF.

That is, simply removing your shoes and putting your feet on the ground; grass or sand for 30-45 minutes.

Have I lost you yet? Stay with me and I’ll explain…

WHAT IS JETLAG?

You’ve probably heard about our internal circadian rhythm. Our built-in body-cycle that determines our sleep and wake times.  This rhythm receives clues from our environment; light, temperature etc. Rapid long distance travel across timezones disrupts our inner circadian rhythm and jetlag can last several days until our bodies adjust.

SO HOW DOES EARTHING HELP?

Well it’s all to do with electrical charges.

Our bodies have a undesired positive charge.

This charge is ramped up when we use things like electronic devices, wear rubber shoes or walk on insulated surfaces indoors etc.  Over time, the positive charge (in the form of free radicals) builds up, depleting us of energy and promoting inflammation and disease (so the theory goes).

The Earth’s surface has a negative charge.

When you make direct contact with the ground (like grass, dirt or sand) the earth’s electrons are conducted through your body bringing it to the same electrical potential as earth (and reducing inflammation).  The connection seems to be amplified when the ground is damp or wet.

FLYING IS THE MOST EXTREME DISCONNECTION WITH EARTH

When you fly, you lose connection with the Earth’s frequency,  and don’t receive the beneficial negative electrons from the ground.

DID YOU KNOW?

Research has shown that the human body checks

for its reference to the Earth every 90 seconds,

so the longer your flight,

the more disconnected your body becomes.

By simply putting our feet on the ground we are immediately reducing inflammation, strengthening our immune system, blood, heart rate, cortisol levels, sleep, autonomic nervous system and reducing stress, anxiety and pain.

So next time you arrive at your destination, make an effort to earth yourself and your children before the jet lag creeps in! If the weather is not ideal or you cannot find a place to “earth”, you can also buy “earthing mats” and other earthing products available through various online stores to take with you which can mimic the Earth’s electrical charges.

What’s your take on earthing/grounding? Have you tried it? Will you try it?

We would love to hear from you!
