If you like to sleep to the sound of the ocean, then this is for you!
A word of warning, book early if you want to secure one of these adorable cottages. In the fear of letting out “Byron’s best kept secret”, I almost contemplated not including them in our MUST-STAY list. But how could I not, when they’re just so damn perfect!
We’re talking, quiet, secluded and absolute beach front!

Choose between one of the four bungalow beauties overlooking stunning Belongil Beach (suitable for a family of up to five people), or stay in one of the two rear houses surrounded by tropical gardens and lawn area.

LOCATION
With private stair access, Belongil Beach is literally on your doorstep. If you’re lucky you can watch dolphins in the waves or just relax on your deck chair as the sun sets in the early evenings.
The heart of Byron Bay is located less than a kilometre away by car, or you can take a relaxing 20 minute stroll along the beach. We found the beach walk perfect for the children to have a run-a-round, especially if we were going to a cafe for lunch afterwards.
It’s also only a short walk to the iconic Treehouse on Belongil, a cool little restaurant/bar that’s open all day long for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Did I mention live bands from Thursday to Sunday too! It’s super child friendly so you can just relax and enjoy.
Belongil Beach is great for surfing and the water is always sparkling and clean. The beach itself is never busy so you can enjoy your own little oasis away from the crowds in the peak of Summer. On the not-so-calm days, you can take a walk down to Main Beach, Clarkes Beach, The Pass or Wategoes Beach. Plenty of choice if your children are too young to handle the swell/rips.
WHY WE LOVE IT:
- The property manager Ian is welcoming, friendly and will make sure you have everything you need from beach toys to surfboards!
- The bungalows are perfectly suited to the Byron Bay ethos – coastal, modest and full of character.
- A larger group of families could rent all four bungalows; providing the right amount of privacy but perfectly social too!
- Our kids loved running around the lawn area and playing with the other traveller’s children.
- You will drift off at night to the sound of the waves crashing, the ultimate bliss.
- From the minute you arrive and breathe in that view, you will instantly relax – and isn’t that the point after all…
