Helen says…

We love Singapore because it is family friendly, extremely safe, very clean and not too far from home. We also love warm weather and Singapore is very hot year round. My kids tend to get bored easily so we like to choose destinations that have lots to offer to keep everyone entertained, including Mum and Dad!

We stayed at the Marina Bay Sands. The hotel was outstanding and I would recommend it to anyone travelling with kids because everything is at your fingertips – amazing food, luxury and mainstream retail, fantastic pool, museums and theatres are all connected to the hotel.

The rooftop infinity pool is the largest in the world and has the most breathtaking view of Singapore. We couldn’t get the kids out of the pool, they swam until sunset and the view is even better when it is dark and the city is lit. The hotel allows you to swim until quite late which is a bonus.

 OUT & ABOUT IN SINGAPORE

My number one recommendation is the Night Safari tour at Singapore Zoo. If you only do one activity in Singapore this must be it! The family hops on a tram which travels through the forest at night exploring nocturnal animals and wild creatures in their natural habitat. It is difficult to see any protective wiring at night so it feels as though lions are just casually strolling past you.

My secret tip is to be the first to hop on the tram when the tours start because the queues get very long as the night progresses so leave the other shows (and things to see) to the end and grab those seats on the tram or you’ll regret it!

Sentosa Island is fun park heaven, this is where Universal Studios is located so you could probably spend a few days here.

We also loved the interactive ArtScience Museum. The kids get to experience light and colour through many different hands on science experiments executed in a really fun way.

Singapore Botanic Gardens are really luscious and beautiful to visit. It does get very hot so don’t forget to bring your water bottles.

EATS THAT CAN’T BE BEAT

I’m all about the food and I can assure you Singapore delivers. Marina Bay Sands includes all the celebrity restaurants which is convenient and easy when you just want to walk to dinner after a long day in the heat. My favourite dining experience was Osteria Mozza by Mario Batali – hands down the best Italian restaurant I have ever visited anywhere in the world. The pasta and authentic Italian dishes were outstanding and there is plenty on the menu for kids to enjoy.

A great casual option is Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen which offers a seperate kids menu and colouring pack to keep them entertained during dinner.
