THE MALDIVES

“Our favourite destination in the world is The Maldives.  The water is warm, calm and shallow which is perfect for small children.”

We have spent 6 weeks in the Maldives over the last two years with our four children.

Many resorts have fantastic kids clubs and activities that the whole family can participate in.  One resort we were at over Easter had family beach “Olympics” as well as a family carnival afternoon and an Easter art competition.

We always stay in an overwater villa regardless of which resort. We love that you can go to sleep hearing the water lapping under you, plus the overwater accommodation is one of the unique features of the Maldives.

The most family-friendly resort we have stayed at is LUX South Ari.

LUX is a very contemporary luxury resort with something for everyone. There is a fantastic kids club as well as a teenage club and we all loved “ICI” – a gelato cart wheeled around the resort twice a day providing complimentary ice cream to the guests.

The other brand that really caters well to families in the Maldives is The Four Seasons.  They have two resorts – we loved the one in the Baa Atoll, Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru.

This resort has stunning white powder sand and the clearest aqua blue water, perfect for our favourite activity in the Maldives, the jet ski. Gliding over the crystal clear water for hours on end is just magic!

Landaa has a lot of family-friendly aspects to it. Not only the kids club with kids pool, but all the restaurants feature quality healthy children’s meals. They are served on kids plates and the drinks even have lids. Plus there was often a surprise soft toy left on my little boy’s pillow at turndown service.”

EMMA’S TOP TIP!

For us, we like to island hop as each resort is very different and even the colour of the ocean is different, but all spectacular.  We recommend trying two resorts within the same atoll to minimise transfer time between the two.
