WHAT TO DO

Check out all the expert tips from Jemma, creator of Little Bali Love; a travel-loving family who divide their time between Melbourne, Australia and Bali.

Jemma says…

PLAY

Sundays Beach Club (Ungasan)

With hip and happening new Beach Clubs opening all over the island left, right and centre, we still think Sundays is the best one for families. Here the whole family can enjoy a day of fun in the sun… swimming, paddling, snorkelling, eating, playing, relaxing, collecting shells and making sandcastles.  The Beach Pass entry fee includes the fun inclinator ride down to the beach and back again, sun-loungers, towels, wifi, complimentary water-sports hire and buckets and spades, plus you get to enjoy a swim in the clifftop infinity pool located within the luxury “The Ungasan” villa complex.

The Garden Early Learning – Kids Club (Canggu)

Colour, fun, art and play at the awesome eco-friendly Kids Club, located within The Garden Early Learning Centre. This lovely kids club is now open 7 days a week from 8am – 5pm and is open to 2 – 12 year olds. In the afternoons the Kids Club guests can also access the tropical playground and meet the onsite pets. You can pop in for a play at anytime, no reservations are needed, and the minimum time is a one hour visit. Sooo handy if you need a few hours to yourself for a spot of shopping or cheeky massage but don’t want to leave your little ones with a nanny – you get a little break and the kids will have a blast – win win! There is also a fab organic cafe on site – Sprout for coffee, eats and treats.

Sunday Family Dayze at KUDETA (Seminyak)

Sunday is the day when little people rule at KUDETA! Brunch is served up along with chilled DJ tunes plus all kinds of fun activities on offer including face-painting, jumping castles, balloons, magicians, games and an amazing kiddie-craft area. There is pizza, sushi, dips and other nibbles for the family to share, or there is a healthy kids lunch menu too. Take your togs too for a splash in their pool!

EAT

Biku (Petitenget)

High tea here is a fave! With a glass of bubbles for the Mamma’s and a special menu for the tiny diners including fruit tea in little teapots, pretty cupcakes, mini gingerbread men and finger sandwiches all served on the sweetest tiered cake stands. Also a great spot for family brekkie, lunch or dinner with healthy kids meals, highchairs, toys, coloured pencils and tea party inspired colouring-in sheets.

Sunset Dinner on the beach (All over the island!)

The simple things in life are often the best! A fresh young coconut, tropical fruit juice, or cold Bintang to start off. Plus some hot buttered BBQ corn, a splash in the waves, and happy little sandy feet. Followed with some nasi or mie goreng, an ice-cream and a beautiful Bali sunset! Early family dinners at a beach warung are the way to go! – cheap and cheerful too. Our favourite spots are Batubolong or Echo Beach in Canggu or Jimbaran Bay.

Jamie’s Italian (Kuta)

Foodie families and fan’s of Jamie will love this buzzy restaurant, which is definitely worth a trip to Kuta for. The kids are warmly welcomed with balloons, coloured pencils, colouring-in sheets, stickers and badges and their menu is presented to the little guests in the most fun, unique and engaging way… via a little red Viewfinder (Children of the 80’s will be impressed with this blast from the past!) with a disc showcasing photos of each of the kids meals on offer, from “Happy Chicken Lollipops” to mini serves of pastas and baby beef burgers. A fun family dining experience!

Markets (All over the island)

The sellers on the beach or a local market such as the Seminyak Flea Market on Oberoi or the Ubud Market are great places for spending pocket money and buying little treasures for friends back home eg; friendship bracelets, little purses, dream-catchers, fans, keyrings, and sarongs.
