FEATURED DESTINATION
PALM BEACH, NEW SOUTH WALES
Before we had our two beautiful boys we loved our overseas trips to Europe and New Zealand, but in the past two years, since having Ted (2.5 years old) and Jack (1.3 years old) we have used the opportunity to explore our beautiful country and keep our holidays local (mainly because I have anxiety about an 18-hour flight with toddlers!).
One of our favourite family getaways is Palm Beach, just a couple of hours drive from our house in Sydney.

Palm Beach is the ultimate escape for the whole family, mainly because we can pack the car with absolutely everything, scooters, prams, baby monitors, any food and condiments from the fridge and pantry, buckets and spades, balls, toy cars, more balls, trucks and a few more balls. Given our hectic lives in Sydney, our priorities of what we want out of a holiday have really changed.
“Goodbye city escapes, site seeing and rushing around and hello ultimate relaxation, quiet and casual. Palm Beach ticks all these boxes.”
ACCOMMODATION
We always hire a house from Contemporary Hotels and Palm Beach Holiday Rentals. We love having a lot of space as well as a fully functioning kitchen and our own pool. We’ve stayed in some beautiful houses, but I think the real stand out was the house we stayed in last Christmas 2016. It was a pricey palace but it was an extended Wipfli family affair, so there were seven adults and four children. The house was huge, with a number of living areas, a pool, stunning grounds for the kids to explore and a next level pool with the coolest slippery slide.
“We really didn’t have to leave the house, but of course we did because Palm Beach has so much to offer. The picturesque beaches are a regular trip with the kids, most days we would go down for a walk and a play on the beach and come back for a swim in the pool before a yummy alfresco lunch.”
OUT & ABOUT IN PALM BEACH
When we’re feeling extra enthusiastic we go for walks up to the Barrenjoey Lighthouse and watch whales swimming out at sea which the kids just love.

And, on the occasion when we felt like a bit of ‘child free’ time we would go for sunset drinks and sometimes a yummy dinner at Jonah’s Restaurant overlooking Whale Beach.

Another fabulous outing is getting a ferry over to The Basin for a family picnic.

LISA’S BLUEPRINT FOR BLISS
Our absolute ultimate favourite day in Palm Beach looks like this; wake up, walk down to The Boathouse for breakfast (I highly recommend the green breaky bowl), walk up to the Barrenjoey Lighthouse, come home for a swim in the pool, kids have a nap, mum and dad usual nod off on the couch and then we spend the afternoon playing on the beach.

Our dream is to one day own our own holiday home in Palm Beach, but right now, we’ll just hire someone else’s fabulous house!
